That goes for the hearing aids you buy, from budget-conscious to premium. And for the ongoing support you might want from your hearing care professional.
With AARP® Hearing Solutions™ provided by UnitedHealthcare Hearing, you get to personalize your hearing care. You choose your hearing aid level and your support package separately. Even better? There are support options, so you can pick what’s right for you.
Hearing care gets personal
The beauty of the program is that there’s a level of support for everyone, says Eric Reams, a board-certified hearing aid dispenser and consultant with UnitedHealthcare Hearing.
For example, if you’re very tech savvy, a hearing test and device fitting could be all you need, he notes. You might be fine handling day-to-day maintenance at home.
“Other people want a more full-service approach,” says Reams. They might not feel comfortable dealing with hearing aid issues on their own. It can even cause stress and anxiety. They’d prefer to see a hearing care professional in person to:
- Have their hearing aids cleaned or tuned up
- Troubleshoot hearing aid technology or other issues
- Get their devices reprogrammed if they notice a change in their hearing
“Our goal with our support packages is to get people the best possible care down the road for as low a cost as possible,” says Reams. Plus, you get access to a nationwide network of hearing care professionals.
Let’s look more closely at the three support options from AARP Hearing Solutions.
Option 1: 60-day trial period
You get much more than just new devices when you buy prescription hearing aids through AARP Hearing Solutions. All hearing aids come with the basic support you need as you start your hearing care journey:
- No-cost hearing exam and hearing aid fitting
- 60-day trial period. You can visit your hearing care professional at no extra cost for fittings and adjustments during this time.
- A 3-year warranty for value devices or a 4-year warranty for brand-name devices
Price: Included with the purchase of your hearing aids
Option 2: Signature Support Package
With the Signature package, you get 1 year of added support. This is a good option for AARP members who want access to care after the trial period ends:
- No-cost hearing exam and hearing aid fitting
- 60-day trial period. You can visit your hearing care professional at no extra cost for fitting and adjustments during this time.
- 3-year warranty for value devices or a 4-year warranty for brand-name devices
- 12 months of additional support beyond the 60-day trial period
- 3 follow-up appointments with a hearing care professional (for maintenance, adjustments, cleaning) within 12 months after the trial period
Price: $500 per pair of hearing aids

Option 3: Elite Support Package
With the Elite package, you get 3 years of added support. This is an excellent choice for AARP members who want a high level of hands-on care:
- No-cost hearing exam and hearing-aid fitting
- 60-day trial period. You can visit your hearing care professional at no extra cost for fitting and adjustments during this time.
- 3-year warranty for value devices or a 4-year warranty for brand-name devices
- 36 months of additional support beyond the 60-day trial period
- 12 follow-up appointments with a hearing care professional (for maintenance, adjustments, cleaning) within 36 months after the trial period
Price: $1250 per pair of hearing aids
And remember: You don’t need to be a UnitedHealthcare member or have any other health insurance to use this program. It’s open to all AARP members.
